Walmley Infant School in Sutton Coldfield is delighted to have received a newly refurbished playground bench with the help of Acivico and contractor Benchmark. A Walmley Infant School student, Seren, has a medical condition which makes physically playing with her friends incredibly difficult, as she is unable to balance or walk very far. The school was dismayed to hear a suitable new bench would cost over £500. Acivico joined forces with contractor Benchmark and sourced a suitable bench from Walmley War Memorial and presenting a fully refurbished bench much to the delight of the school. The bench has now been installed within the school’s playground, for Seren’s use at playtime.

Helen Murphy, Walmley Infant School Head said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity of people who have provided this refurbished bench for Seren. As the bench has back and arms, Seren will be able to sit down without the fear of falling off. This will enable her to have even more outside playtime and be with her friends.”

Seren’s mother Fay said: “As she is still young she doesn’t assess danger very well and doesn’t understand she cannot do certain things other children her age can do. Playtime is so important for a child’s development and to make friends. Seren would have missed out on this.”

Cllr Ken Wood commented; “It’s great to have been able to bring people together to achieve a big difference to Seren’s playtime. A huge thanks to Acivico and Benchmark for making it happen.”
