Glenmead Primary School Roof Works

Service
Acivico were tasked with repairing and improving the previous non-Acivico works to the Glenmead Primary School Roof, in order to bring the works up to Building Regulations standards and prevent further leaks and damages to the school building.

A 3-layer bitumen felt system replaced the old roof covering. The roof was installed with cut to falls tapered insulation system, designed to improve roof drainage and thermal efficiency of the building, which assists the school with reducing whole life cycle costs.

The existing pitched roofing was replaced as underfelt was perished and worn. Furthermore, existing tiles defective with water ingressing the building. Where possible ridge tiles were replaced with dry fix mono ridges and verges were replaced with dry verges to reduce the school maintenance liabilities.

In addition, forty-three existing roof lights, which were a health and safety hazard, were replaced with new triple skin, polycarbonate rooflights improving thermal efficiency and daylight. In turn this provided the classrooms with better lighting for the teachers and pupils.

The works were complete with timber shiplap cladding, which is maintenance free.

All works at the school have an insurance backed 20-year guarantee covering materials and workmanship.

The whole roof project was well managed with regular updates and very good communication. [The] School were very pleased with the quality of the finish on the project. The roof lights are particularly impactful and the quality of the natural light coming into the classrooms is much improved. Contractors were not obtrusive on campus… I noted the attention to health and safety while on site and them being mindful to the needs of the school.
