The construction of the new Rockwood Academy, valued at £14m, started in 2019 has already seen some valuable progress on site.

The project, managed by Acivico, has seen the structural insulated panel system (SIPS) erected along with the ground floor nearing completion too. This is a strong step forward for the new Academy on Naseby Road, Birmingham, which will support the provision of 450 additional school places, facilitating the school’s expansion from four to seven form entry; or from 648 pupils to 1,050.

Acivico, in collaboration with contractor Morgan Sindall, eagerly anticipate the next step in this project which will see the installation of the first floor cassettes next week; allowing for the commencement of the first floor construction.

The project will also consist of a significant amount of refurbishment to the existing school facility, with several areas reconfigured.  The expansion will accommodate fourteen additional classrooms, a new library, additional science laboratories, a drama studio, extensive external landscaping and a new multi-use games facility. The project is due for completion in the autumn of 2020.
